Alexander Moat Williams

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

In the village we have a wonderful description of village life at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries by Alexander Moat Williams and we plan to preserve it for future generations and possibly use some quotes in our forthcoming book. The author has long since died, but does anyone know of the whereabouts of any of his descendants?

Any ex-residents of Minster Lovell out there?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

We had a great chat with an experienced oral history interviewer yesterday and were talking about finding more people for our interviews on Minster Lovell. Finding residents in the village is easy, but we really need some people who lived here in the past and are willing to talk. It’s definitely painless and for a good cause of preserving historical memories. Contact us via the website if you are interested. Or maybe you know someone in residential care for senior citizens who might talk? All are welcome.

Bartlett family in Minster Lovell

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We know the Bartlett family was located in many villages/towns in the area including Aston/Cote, Bampton and Witney but some came to our village. Shadrach married here in 1869 (who was his wife?) and Thomas & Caroline (from Wootton) lived here in the 1860s/70s. Was their son Thomas Frederick the one who as Frederick Bartlett married Mary Maria Wheeler and emigrated to Raleigh, Ontario, Canada? Does anyone have anything on these Bartletts?
