Families being searched

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

There has been a fantastic response to requests for information on the Cox/Mitchell/Cook families including many from Australia. We also have been sent some great old photos.

New families added to our ‘active research’  list in the last two weeks include Norridge, Shayler, Stratford, Busby, Lock, Clapton and Faulkner. Does anyone have anything on these families in Minster Lovell – especially stories or photos (we can access BMD information & census etc)?

Visit to Oxfordshire Record Offices

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

We had a great day yesterday when a team of 9 villagers (we lost 2 to illness) raided the Minster Lovell archives at the ORO. Each person had a different objective but between us we found plenty of useful information, and more we’d like to follow up.  We covered the 1839 tithe map, some wills, indentures, The Swan accounts books, the Board of Guardians assessment committee minute book, records of war dead and a couple of  very ancient 17th century documents.  The staff were very helpful for this special village excursion. We plan to return!
